Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is reportedly on Tottenham Hotspur's list of possible Harry Kane replacements should the club fail to keep hold of their talisman.
The future of Kane, who could reportedly end his 16-year association with the club in order to win silverware before it’s too late, is the subject of much speculation following the European Championships, with Manchester City among the potential suitors.
However, Tottenham’s stance is still clear as Daniel Levy is determined to keep hold of the three-time Golden Boot winner.
City – who smashed the British transfer record when they signed Jack Grealish last week - have already seen a £100million proposal rejected by Daniel Levy earlier in the window but the Premier League champions are not giving up just yet.
"He (Kane) is a player for Tottenham Hotspur and if Tottenham don't want to negotiate, it is finished," said Pep Guardiola, as per the Express.
"I think Man City and many clubs in the world want to try to sign him, we are not an exception, but it depends on Tottenham.
"It is different to Jack [Grealish]. He had the release [clause] and Jack is different. Harry is exceptional and we are interested in him but if Tottenham don't want to negotiate, nothing more to say."
Although Spurs agreed a fee of £60million with Inter Milan over the proposed signing of Lauturo Martinez, football.london understands that there is a long way to go on the deal, primarily because the price was agreed before the Serie A side sanctioned the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea for £97.5million.
With that in mind, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Calvert-Lewin is also of interest.
“I still wonder that if Kane does go, possibly a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Everton," he told The Football Terrace.
“He’s definitely on Tottenham’s radar. They see him as a potential number nine and Tottenham see him as potential replacement material."
However, going by what Calvert-Lewin has previously said about a possible move in the past, Spurs wouldn’t be his preferred destination as they cannot offer Champions League football.
"I am happy at Everton,” he told L’Equipe in June. "I worked hard to become number nine at this club and score goals like I did recently. Personally, I have the ambition to one day play in the Champions League and win titles.
"But for now, I'm happy at Everton."
