What does bev mean? Love Island's Lucie anger fans by saying it ALL the time

Love Island has only been back a day and already we might have found this year's catchphrase, the problem being that the word in question is already annoying viewers.

After a 12 month Love Island drought, the hit itv2 show stormed back onto our screens on Monday, with 12 islanders heading into the famous Mallorcan villa.

One of the Love Island lineup this year surfer girl Lucie and promptly introduced a new word to the Love Island vocabulary.

Over the past few years "100% my type on paper," "eggs in one basket" and "muggy" have wormed their way onto social media and on the front of t-shirts, well now the words on everyone's lips (whether they like it or not!) is " ".

However, rather than it being used to describe a drink, Lucie used the word to describe a manner of different things.

One minute she said it was a word to describe a good looking boy, as in "he's my bev," or "he's a bev", but then the next she was telling fellow Islander Amy that her pyjamas were "bevvy."

And Love Island viewers have already had enough.

A number of Regina George inspired memes quickly circulated, the Mean Girls character of course famosus for her "stop trying to make fetch happen," catchphrase.

Geordie Shore star Nathan Henry tweeted "Please lord do not make ‘a bev ’ catch on as a term for a guy, it’s a drink lmao," and, stating what millions of us at home were thinking, another viewers posted "This bird from Cornwall saying “ bev ” means a nice guy......r kid we have been saying “ bev ” for years and it means a drink you melt."

For us, bev will always means a drink, but, whether you like it or not, you're probably going to be hearing the word a lot as long as Lucie stays in Love Island!
