What do you think of the Celtics’ official 2019-20 City Edition jerseys?

The Boston Celtics have finally — officially — unveiled their 2019-20 City Edition alternate jerseys to a decidedly warmer response than the images leaked last month received.

The initial response, ranging from confusion to revulsion for the most part, was evidently due in part to Celtics big man Enes Kanter’s cell phone, which somehow rendered the primary color of the alternates to a a blue hue unlike anything Boston has released previously.

The font, invoking something you might find on an Irish pub, seems a nod to the hibernian heritage many locals have in the greater Boston area as it was a magnet for Irish immigrants at the end of the 19th and start of the 20th centuries.

The jersey’s actual color, to the relief of many, is a more familiar green hue that even the Turkish center himself couldn’t resist poking fun at. Fans, however, have been somewhat warmer to the properly-hued version which is likely a relief to the franchise.

You can see the team debut the newest City Edition designs on Nov. 27 when they face the Brooklyn Nets (who will also debut their own 2019-20 City Edition jerseys that night), the same day they will be available for purchase.
