Boris Johnson has announced a relaxation of Covid rules, with certain measures set to be dropped over the next week.

Wearing a face mask in public spaces will no longer be mandatory from next Thursday, January 27, although they are no longer mandatory in schools from Thursday, January 20.

Covid passes to gain entry to certain venues and events will also no longer be a requirement from January 27.

The changes come alongside reports that infection rates are falling for the first time since December, with the Prime Minister crediting the success to the booster campaign.

Covid isolation periods are also set to be scrapped at the end of March, with the current isolation period at five full days if a negative test is returned on day five and six.
