The mere mention of the "dinner lady", often used to describe a woman who serves food in a school cafeteria, can make you nostalgic.
Whether that's because she reminded you of your wee granny and gave you extra helpings, or because it brings back memories of dried haggis on Burns Day *shivers*.
But a "non-Brit" has now sparked a hilarious debate on Reddit that is food for thought after asking their partner what people in the UK call a male dinner lady.
While you could always just opt for "catering assistant", which would be gender-neutral, much like how you might nowadays describe a policeofficer or a firefighter, we couldn't help but round up some of the side-splitting options.
The Reddit user asked: "My non-British partner asks: 'what is the correct name for a male dinner lady?'".
For many, the obvious answer was to simply change it to, "dinner lad" or "dinner laddy".
Another chimed in: "We had a male dinner lady called John.
"Everyone called him John the dinner lady."
We do not recommend this solution, for the sake of Johns everywhere.
