What do we know about the TFI Friday reboot with Chris Evans? Guests, timings and air date revealed

Chris Evans is bringing his chaotic entertainment show TFI Friday back to Channel 4 on Friday night - 11 years after it went off air.

The 60-year-old presenter fronted TFI Friday - which stood for Thank Four it’s Friday - from 1996 to 2000, mixing wholly unpredictable celebrity interviews with live music and competitions.

Evans successfully revived the legendary show earlier this year on YouTube as TFI Friday Unplugged and it has now been commissioned by Channel 4.

How many episodes are there and when will it air?

There will be six episodes of TFI Friday Unplugged, Channel 4 revealed on Monday.

The first episode of TFI Friday Unplugged will air at its original broadcasting home of Channel 4 on Friday 17 April at 11.05pm.

It is available on catch up and on Virgin Radio UK’s YouTube – where you can watch all episodes of Virgin Radio UK’s TFI Unplugged.

Who are the guests?

Guests for the first episode include singers Sam Ryder, Shreya Ghoshal and Jack Savoretti.

Comedian Sindhu Vee and actors Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo will also join Evans in the studio.

What’s the vibe?

Evans promised that the reboot will have a “similar” flavour to the wild original from the ‘90s.

“Obviously, TFI is back tonight. TFI Unplugged. It’s unplugged,” he told listeners on his breakfast show on Virgin Radio UK on Friday morning.

“It’s not the same as the old show, but it’s similar.

“It’s got the same spirit. It’s got none of the budget, you know… It’s very Wayne’s World-y. It’s a bit of fun.”

Channel 4 commissioning editor Cimran Shah added: “TFI Friday was doing stripped-back, personality-led chat long before visualised-podcasts were a twinkle in our eyes!

“I’m thrilled that this deal brings TFI back to Channel 4, reimagined in a way that feels fresh, immediate and perfectly suited for a new generation wherever they watch Channel 4.”
