What do voters think are the top issues heading into the Queensland election?

Mr Achire says the government needs to stop wasting money and create more jobs.

Jobs and the environment seem to be at the tops of minds of Queensland voters as they react to news that Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has called an early election for November 25.

George Achire from Ipswich, who works in parks and gardens, said help was needed for homeless and disadvantaged people.

"I see a lot of people in Ipswich on the dole," Mr Achire said.

"The Government needs to stop wasting money and create more jobs, stop spending money on the same-sex marriage vote, and help out the homeless."

Brendon Behan from Mackay, who works in resources sector, said temporary workforces were "really hurting Mackay and the regions".

"Things are going backwards in the resources sector — you have people working alongside each other doing the same jobs, but temporary workers are on $30,000 less — there's no benefits or job security now," Mr Behan said.

"Adani are going to bring in some of their own staff from India — we mine the resources from our land, so we need to put the money back to us."

Kim Collett, a university student from Brisbane, said her two biggest concerns leading into the election were racism and the environment.

"One Nation has [strong] support — it'd be good if Labor took a stand and addressed [leader Pauline Hanson's] Islamophobia," Ms Collett said.

"And what happened to 'a vote for Labor was a vote for the reef'?

"Regarding Adani, we don't need another coal mine in Australia, we need to create jobs from renewable energy."

Carl Jackson, also a university student from Brisbane, said jobs were a big concern for young people.

"Labor hasn't reversed the public servants sacked by the Newman government," Mr Jackson said.

"We need to create jobs by building renewable infrastructure and address the transport problems in Brisbane."
