What Dishon Bernard was told by Manchester United manager Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told Dishon Bernard to remember the rest of his Manchester United debut after his own goal gave Astana a famous victory in the Europa League.

Bernard, 19, put through his own net in the 62nd minute to complete a swift turnaround for the hosts, who recovered from Jesse Lingard's 10th-minute opener for a callow United side.

Centre-back Bernard was one of three starting debutants along with Ethan Laird, 18, and Dylan Levitt, also 19. Largie Ramazani and Ethan Galbraith, both 18, and D'mani Mellor, 19, also emerged off the bench to debut but United could not claim a point in the Kazakhstani capital.

Solskjaer patted former Chelsea youth teamer Bernard at full-time when the United players and staff approached the away end and spoke to him before they headed for the tunnel.

"He was disappointed and he'll remember that from his debut," Solskjaer said. "But I wanted him to remember the other 92 minutes and every other touch he had.

"Because he defended well, he had some last-ditch clearances, I thought he was excellent and he was composed on the ball as well.

"Sometimes strikers miss chances, sometimes defenders score an own goal, that's partly down to luck and bad luck and I thought he did really well. That's why I wanted him to remember this game for."

Solskjaer indicated he would pick a stronger XI for the final group game against AZ Alkmaar in a fortnight's time. Though United lost to Astana, if they beat Alkmaar they will still qualify for the knockout stage as group winners.

"Of course, we wanted to win this game then we win the group," Solskjaer added. "it will be a mixed team, some of these players played really well today and we will probably see them again.

"But with the home game there'll be some more first-team players."
