What did the flag say which flew over St James' Park before Newcastle's clash with Man City?

Election candidates usually try to secure your vote with a knock on the door or a forgettable leaflet.

However, the Brexit Party tried a slightly different approach on Saturday.

The political group flew a banner over St James' Park prior to Newcastle United's lunchtime clash with Manchester City.

At the rear was a banner, emblazoned with a pretty simple command ahead of the General Election: 'Vote Brexit Party'.

The party have been campaigning hard in the North East, while leader Nigel Farage had been due to appear at Tony Blair's old constituency of Sedgefield on Saturday to try and drum up support for their candidate Dr David Bull.

And it seems they are quite literally flying the flag wherever they go, after the same stunt was carried out during a recent trip to Hull.

Whether the stunt will pay off come December 12 remains to be seen.
