What Declan Rice would have asked the Man Utd players during England training amid transfer link

Former West Ham and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says Declan Rice is "like a sponge" and will have asked plenty of questions about what life is like at Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Rice is interested in a move to Manchester United, though football.london understands that West Ham's position on the midfielder is clear.

Ferdinand says that Rice is a laid-back character and would not be forcing any move between the clubs. However, he does say that the midfielder is very inquisitive and has asked about life at Manchester United before.

"If it happens, it'll be between the clubs," Ferdinand told FIVE. "He won't be the person to instigate it.

"I think he is quite a laid-back kid in that sense but I see him as someone, look I've spoken to him.

"Not about this transfer but he's a driven kid. He wants to achieve things and he's a sponge. 'What was it like in your team?'

"He reminds me a lot of myself in that respect. He asks you questions like, 'what was he like training with at United?'

"That'd be about a player in his position. He wants to know everything and you can't fault a kid like that."

West Ham will be hoping not to lose the midfielder any time soon, and with his contract running until 2024 with an option to extend by a further year, they are in a strong bargaining position.

David Moyes has previously said that he would not consider selling the midfielder for £100million.

"I don’t agree with the owners that Declan Rice is a £100million footballer," Moyes said. "Far, far more than £100million.

"Declan is under contract first and foremost, so he can’t go anywhere no matter what and I keep saying and I hope people know that when I say something I mean it. We’ve not had an offer for Declan Rice and I hope we don’t get one."
