Regardless of the scoreline, Jose Mourinho's return to Old Trafford was always going to be the big story at Tottenham's clash with Manchester United.
The new Spurs head coach returned to greet familiar faces as he took his new side back to the club that sacked him just under 12 months ago.
While Mourinho's time in Manchester ended on a sour note, the Tottenham boss insisted he would be happy to see some familiar faces on Wednesday night.
Ahead of his return to Manchester, some papers even reported that the Portuguese boss would meet up with some of those he considered 'friends' before the match.
However, all of his focus is of course on ensuring his new employers leave with a vital three points as they continue their resurgence up the Premier League table.
But one notable exchange between Mourinho and one of his former employers was his reunion with David de Gea.
The Spaniard was one of United's few players to enjoy their football under Mourinho and the pair were clearly pleased to see one another.
The two embraced for a hug on the Old Trafford pitch as the goalkeepers came to warm-up, with Sergio Romero also following suit.
Mourinho was always hugely complimentary about Romero during his time at the club, using him in key Europa League and cup games, although de Gea remained his undisputed number one.
While Mourinho will insist all his focus is on getting a result to lift Tottenham closer to the Champions League places, he will have been pleased to receive such a warm welcome from two of his former players.
