What Cristiano Ronaldo said to Maurizio Sarri amid claims of 'touchline spat'

Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri has clarified just what happened between him and Cristiano Ronaldo during Sunday's 3-2 friendly defeat to Tottenham in Singapore.

The International Champions Cup clash was remembered for Harry Kane's remarkable stoppage-time winner from near the halfway line , with the England captain's strike looping over Wojciech Szczesny on its way into the net.

Ronaldo had earlier struck for the Italians during the entertaining contest, but eyes had been draw to , with the former Chelsea boss taking charge of Juve for the first time.

However, the 60-year-old says the 'row' was merely a discussion about how long Ronaldo was going to stay on for.

“We agreed to let him play for an hour," Sarri told reporters ahead of Wednesday's International Champions Cup clash with Serie A rivals Inter Milan in Nanjing.

"Ronaldo asked me how much time he had left before coming off.

“I told him five or six minutes and at the time of his substitution, I only asked him how he was."

Sarri went on to explain his plans for Ronaldo against Inter and across the course of this season, claiming that he will use him coming off the left hand side to allow Paulo Dybala to play through the middle.

“We’ll use him (Ronaldo) mainly as a forward on the left wing, knowing that he loves to shoot. He must make the difference," said Sarri.

“I think Dybala can play as a false nine quite comfortably.

“We can also set up the attack slightly differently, with the 4-3-1-2 and Dybala playing on the right of a front two.

“We’ll try to give continuity to the good things we did in the second half in Singapore.

“Juve-Inter won’t be a match like any other, although I don’t think the two teams will able to play their best football, given these temperatures and this level of humidity."
