Manchester United's season predicted if they signed Gareth Bale AND Jadon Sancho this summer

Manchester United face a summer of transition, with the club expected to be very active in the summer transfer window.

Two names that have constantly been linked with United over the last few months are Jadon Sancho and Gareth Bale.

Sancho has had an incredible season at Borussia Dortmund, playing a starring role in challenging Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title.

For Bale, it's been a season to forget at Real Madrid, as their season finished trophyless, with the Welshman rumoured to be on the way out this summer.

So what would happen if Manchester United signed both Bale and Sancho this summer?

Would United be Premier League title challengers?

We used popular simulation game Football Manager 2019 to find out.

We used the Football Manager 2019 editor to transfer Bale and Sancho in to the United squad and then simulated a whole season to see what would happen, and if the club's fortunes would be improved by the duo's arrival.

What is Gareth Bale like on FM2019?

Gareth Bale's profile on Football Manager 2019 (Football Manager 2019)

Positions: ML/AML/AMC/AMR/ST

Current ability: 182

Potential ability: 186

With a current ability of 182 out of 200, Bale would be the best player at United, above David De Gea (179).

He is a world class forward who would make a difference to any team in world football, with excellent technical, physical and mental attributes.

What is Jadon Sancho like on FM2019?

Jadon Sancho's profile on Football Manager 2019 (Football Manager 2019)

Positions: ML/MR/AMR/AML

Current ability: 150

Potential ability: 175

Sancho's current ability of 150 on Football Manager 2019 puts him at the same level as Marcus Rashford (151), so he's definitely one of United's better players.

His potential ability of 175 is also very similar to Rashford's (176), making him a fantastic prospect.

This is what happened when these two players were added to Manchester United on Football Manager 2019

Bale and Sancho at Manchester United - The results

Unsurprisingly, Bale was named in United's best 11 for the season, claiming the right wing slot in a 4-3-3 as his own.

But Sancho would have to settle for a place on the bench, after making 29 appearances, with only 11 of those were starts.

(Football Manager 2019)

The Welshman would also finish as the club's top goalscorer in all competitions, with 22 goals in 49 games, ahead of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial.

(Football Manager 2019)

Sancho would only score three goals all season, but he did have significantly less game time than Bale overall, making just eight Premier League starts.

(Football Manager 2019)

Interestingly, with much less game time, Sancho's four assists in all competitions is not far off Bale's assist tally of six, with the Welshman more of a goalscorer than a provider.

Bale's injury issues have been well documented in real life, and it was the same in the virtual world.

(Football Manager 2019)

The former Tottenham forward suffered a total of seven seperate injuries during the campaign, missing 11 weeks and four days of the season with torn wrist ligaments, fractured ribs and various thigh injuries.

Something United will have to be mindful of if they are thinking of signing Bale this summer.

Bale and Sacho's arrival would help United score the most goals of any Premier League side, becoming the deadliest side in the division.

(Football Manager 2019)

Bale would be United's top league goalscorer, with 16 goals in the league, only beaten by Mohamed Salah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dele Alli and Callum Wilson.

(Football Manager 2019)

The duo's arrival also made United the best crossing side in the division, with the best cross completion of any team in the league.

(Football Manager 2019)

But, where did United finish in the Premier League after Bale and Sancho's arrival?

This is how the Premier League table looked after 38 games...

(Football Manager 2019)

Solksjaer's United won the Premier League title after finishing three points ahead of Man City and 10 ahead of Liverpool in third place.

But Solskjaer's success didn't stop there.

United also won the Carabao Cup, beating Southampton 1-0...

(Football Manager 2019)

And the FA Cup too, beating Middlesbrough in extra-time thanks to two goals from Sanchez.

(Football Manager 2019)

There was disappointment in the Champions League however.

(Football Manager 2019)

They went out at the quarter-final stage to Man City, losing 3-4 on aggregate after Paul Pogba's dismissal in the 2nd leg.

Despite this defeat, United ended up with a domestic treble in Solskjaer's first full season as United manager.

According to Football Manager 2019, adding two world-class players to this United squad would have a massive impact on their fortunes.

If United can get their hands on Bale and Sancho, a title challenge could be very possible next season.
