What Conor Gallagher did to Jack Grealish in England training ahead of Chelsea transfer decision

Thomas Tuchel faces several key decisions this summer regarding his Chelsea squad. The Blues finally completed their takeover, meaning the German coach can finally get down to business in shaping his team for next season in the transfer window.

The manager faces a challenge in adding options in the market, with almost every area needing some sort of change. The defence is likely to be a priority, given Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen’s upcoming exits. At the same time, a look at the forward line may be required after a season of struggles in front of goal.

The midfield may need looking at, too, with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante only having one-year remaining on their current deals. While Tuchel could look to bring players in, he could also look to make use of loanee Conor Gallagher, who has impressed at Crystal Palace this season.

football.london understands that the head coach has already held discussions with Gallagher, claiming he won’t be a bit-part player next campaign. It comes amid a huge decision over where his future may lie.

His talent has been on full display throughout the season at Selhurst Park too, where the 22-year-old managed 34 league appearances with eight goals and three assists. That form earned him an England senior call-up, becoming part of Gareth Southgate’s squad.

As part of the June internationals, the Three Lions have been pictured in training, where Gallagher was seen tackling Jack Grealish with a crunching challenge. The midfielder proceeded to win the ball, picking it up and finishing calmly during the drill.

It’s that sort of desire that Tuchel will be hoping he can draw upon next season, should he be part of his plans going forward.
