Christian Eriksen has completed his move from Tottenham to Inter Milan.
The Danish playmaker told supporters he was looking for a "new challenge" last summer, but the midfielder stayed in north London, entering the final year of his contract with the club.
There was a fear inside the club that the 27-year-old would leave this summer on a free transfer, but Inter Milan came calling in January and after weeks of negotiations the Dane has finally exited the club and completed a move to the Italian giants.
The fee is thought to be in the region of £16.9million and brings to an end a transfer saga that has been taking up much of the Tottenham supporters' thoughts for the best part of a year.
Eriksen will join a club managed by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and he has been speaking about his move to Inter TV.
And his first words suggest he was getting as frustrated with the transfer saga as the Spurs fans.
He said: "I couldn’t wait to join, it’s wonderful to be here and I’m happy to be a new Inter player. I’m very excited and can’t wait to introduce myself to the fans. I’ve already experienced their warmth, it’s been a fantastic welcome. I feel great."
And he will have endeared himself to his new fans by calling Inter a "big team".
He added: "The numbers say that I did really well in England. It’s now time to start a new challenge, I’m really happy to have the opportunity to play in Serie A for a big team. Inter is a fantastic club."
