What Chelsea will do at Stamford Bridge following Everton clash amid rising Omicron fears

Chelsea are set to offer residents close to Stamford Bridge a dose of the coronavirus vaccine this weekend, with Stamford Bridge set to become a pop-up vaccination centre.

The Blues have confirmed that appointments can now be booked for the pop-up centre that is set to take place on Saturday, December 18.

Vaccinations will run between 10am to 6pm, with any of the two doses - as well as a booster - set to be offered.

The decision comes after the decision to offer booster jabs for coronavirus to anyone over the age of 18 amid rising fears over the Omicron variant.

The UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the decision on Sunday in a live television address.

Numbers have increased dramatically over recent days, with a further 78,610 people having tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, December 15.

Meanwhile, a number of Premier League games have been forced to have been called off due to a number of positive tests.

Manchester United’s clash with Brentford has already been postponed, whilst Burnley’s clash with Watford has also been postponed just hours ahead of kick-off on Wednesday.

Chelsea ’s vaccination centre is expected to open just a couple of days after Thomas Tuchel ’s men are in action in west London.

The reigning European champions welcome Rafa Benitez’s Everton to Stamford Bridge on Thursday and will be aiming to chalk-up back-to-back wins having edged past Leeds United last time out.

They do not return to home soil until after Christmas with a clash against Brighton & Hove Albion not set to be played until Wednesday, December 29.
