What Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Cheek has said about Liverpool & Spurs' Champions League heroics

Chelsea ace Ruben Loftus-Cheek admits that watching Liverpool and Tottenham both come back from three goals down in Europe this week is proof of why he loves football.

Both Liverpool and Spurs produced incredible fightbacks in their respective Champions League semi-final ties, with the Reds winning 4-0 against Barcelona at Anfield as they overturned a three-goal deficit from the first leg, while Tottenham scored three second half goals to progress to the final of the competition.

And Loftus-Cheek has revealed how he reacted to both games, with his response likely to go down well with supporters from both clubs.

"I was astonished. You can't help but sit back and go 'that's why I love football," he said, speaking to BT Sport ahead of Chelsea's Europa League semi-final second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt at Stamford Bridge, in which he scored the opening goal.

Meanwhile, Loftus-Cheek also spoke of how watching Chelsea in the Champions League as a youngster inspired him as he was looking to make the breakthrough in the game.

"I remember seeing Didier Drogba scoring [in the Champions League] and it was so loud, and it makes you fall in love with the game to see these big nights under the lights in the Champions League, and that's where you want to be as a footballer."

And Loftus-Cheek is set to grace the Champions League stage with the Blues next season, with Maurizio Sarri's side ensured of a place in the top four in the Premier League with one game to play.
