Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori was the AC Milan hero during their 2-1 victory over Genoa this afternoon.
The 23-year-old, who has already earned rave reviews for his performances on loan with the Rossoneri, took that status to another level in their latest Serie A clash.
Needing three points to keep tabs on runaway table-toppers and city rivals Inter Milan, Stefano Pioli's side were one goal to the good heading into the final stages at the San Siro.
In search of a late equaliser, Genoa broke with purpose and the ball fell kindly to Valon Behrami in the area.
However, what the former West Ham midfielder failed to account for was the defensive instincts of Tomori - who produced a stunning and match-defining goal-line clearance in the 87th minute.
It proved to be a telling contribution from the Chelsea academy graduate, who has now made ten appearances in Serie A, while helping Milan to keep three clean sheets in the process.
Speculation over his long-term future continues to be a hot topic at Stamford Bridge and beyond, meanwhile.
The Italian giants have already outlined their transfer stance on Tomori - with an option to buy clause being part of the initial loan agreement between the clubs.
If the centre-back is to find a permanent home in Milan during the summer transfer window, his services are set to cost the Italian club around €28million - which comes in at close to £24.2m with the current exchange rates.
Speaking about the future of Tomori only last weekend, his loan manager Pioli said: "My will and the technical area are clear on the satisfaction that this player has given us.
"Without detracting from our excellent defenders, he has very important characteristics of speed and contrast. Our will is to keep him, but it's clear that there are other factors at play."
