What Chelsea legend John Terry said to Marcelo Bielsa amid controversy in Leeds vs Villa clash

There were bizarre scenes at Elland Road this afternoon (Sunday) as Leeds United and Aston Villa played out a 1-1 draw in the Championship.

In a game that was crucial to both sides in the battle for promotion to the Premier League, Leeds took the lead in controversial circumstances, with Mateusz Klich firing home after the home side played on, with Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia on the ground injured.

It sparked a mass brawl between both teams, with Anwar El Ghazi shown a red card in the aftermath, while there were angry scenes on the touchline too, before Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa instructed his players to allow Villa to walk in an equaliser, shouting "Give the goal" to his players.

And Chelsea legend John Terry, who is now assistant manager at Aston Villa, was involved on the touchline, and he could be seen on camera responding to Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa after he allowed Villa to walk in an equaliser.

"That's fair, that's fair," Terry could be seen saying to the Leeds boss as he gesticulated to the Villa bench, having told his players to let the visitors score.

His message did not go down well with everyone though, with Leeds defender Pontus Jansson seemingly not willing to let it happen as he approached the Villa players as they looked to walk the ball in.

After the game, Bielsa spoke out on the incident and why he decided to do it.

"We gave it back," he said in an interview with Sky Sports.

"We express our interpretation of the facts by doing what we did. English football is know for sportsmanship, so I don't have to comment on this kind of thing."

Meanwhile, Villa boss Dean Smith told Sky Sports: "Klich has just apologised to me after the game. Every credit to Leeds and Bielsa for giving us the opportunity to put that right."

The result meant that Sheffield United were promoted to the Premier League, with Leeds now having to settle for a place in the play-offs.
