What Chelsea fans did to David Luiz on his Stamford Bridge return after Arsenal transfer

David Luiz was back at Stamford Bridge tonight, albeit briefly.

Named in the Arsenal starting line-up for the Premier League encounter in west London, the former Blues star is partnered in central defence by Shkodran Mustafi once again.

The Gunners went into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United at the weekend, a result which left them 10 points off the final Champions League spot ahead of kick-off.

Head coach Mikel Arteta will be looking for Luiz to lead from the back as the visitors look to avenge the 2-1 defeat in the reverse meeting at the Emirates Stadium just under a month ago.

However, Luiz is not exactly a popular figure amongst the Stamford Bridge faithful.

And it's evident each time he gets on the ball as he is being greeted by boos from some sections of Chelsea supporters in the London derby against Arsenal.

Whilst the defender's departure from Chelsea in the summer transfer wasn't controversial, the fact he made the move across the capital hasn't been forgotten by fans of his former club.

His night ended earlier than he would have liked.

Given his marching orders just before the half hour mark after denying Tammy Abraham a clear goalscoring chance, Jorginho then made it 1-0 from the subsequent penalty.

As Luiz headed straight down the tunnel, the mood from Chelsea fans changed.

There were chants of "David Luiz he's one of our own" and "David Luiz he's won more than you" ringing around the stadium.
