What Chelsea defenders did to Kepa Arrizabalaga during Liverpool defeat

Chelsea will have to wait until the last day of the season to see if they will be playing Champions League football next season.

A 5-3 loss to newly-crowned Premier League Champions Liverpool at Anfield means that the Blues need a point against Wolves in order to confirm their place in the elite European competition.

Should they fall to defeat in that game and Leicester City and Manchester United draw their game at the King Power Stadium, then the Blues will fall out of the top four on the final day.

During the game at Anfield, Chelsea fought back from 3-0 and 4-1 down to get the score back to 4-3, and give them hope of sealing the deal tonight.

However, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s 84th minute goal put the result beyond doubt.

It could have been worse for Chelsea before the full-time whistle, when their defensive frailties from set pieces showed, only for Virgil van Dijk to miss the target.

Blues’ goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has been on the end of criticism this season, due to his inconsistent performances.

It seems that Chelsea’s defenders could share the fans’ frustrations over his performances.

With no fans in the stadium, players’ shouts can be heard more clearly, and as the set-piece was sent in by Liverpool, clear shouts at the Chelsea goalkeeper could be heard, with defenders encouraging the stopper to make the ball his.

Kepa was bought back into the starting lineup after Willy Caballero was chosen for the FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester United.

It is expected that Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper will retain his place for the crucial game against Wolves at the weekend.
