What Charlton Athletic boss said over bid for striker linked with Bristol City and Nottingham Forest

Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer has dismissed any chance of a club landing Lyle Taylor on a swap deal.

Bristol City are understood to have joined the race for the Charlton star, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Yet the Robins face competition from Nottingham Forest for Taylor's signature.

The Daily Mail reported yesterday that the Robins have offered players in exchange for Taylor, with out-of-favour Kasey Palmer among those to have been discussed.

Speaking to London News Online, Bowyer revealed that he felt an offer such as that for Taylor is 'ridiculous', but he stopped short of naming the Robins as the club to have made the bid.

"I hope [we won’t sell him]," he said.

"Someone came in with a silly offer on Friday. That was player for player, there was no money involved. It was a ridiculous offer.

"This is something that is out of my hands. I’m not the money person.

"I’m not controlling that side of things. All I can control is that we keep working hard and trying to win games."
