What Chargers’ Anthony Lynn, players said after losing to Titans

The Chargers suffered defeat to the Titans on Sunday afternoon at Nissan Stadium in a heartbreaking fashion.

What appeared to be a drive that would’ve won them the game turned into one that resulted in a loss, in which the coaches and players wish they were able to get back and redo it.

After the game, coach Anthony Lynn spoke to the media. The first thing he addressed was running back Melvin Gordon’s fumble which cost them the game. He felt Los Angeles could get half a yard with a big-back in Gordon.

“You don’t get one yard you don’t deserve to win the dam game, and that’s just the way it is. We let it slip out of our hands,” Lynn said.

He was then asked how the team will respond after their third consecutive loss.

“I told our players that one yard can bring us together, or tear us apart. And with the character that we have in that locker room, I do believe this group will rally. And we’ll fight,” Lynn said.

Running back Melvin Gordon was the biggest reason why L.A. lost the game. Like anyone else on his team, he was disappointed to say the least.

“It hurts just as bad if you’re the guy with the ball in your hand or you don’t. So many times I’ve been successful for the most part (from the 1-yard line), but it got me today,” Gordon said.

The game would’ve been over if RB Austin Ekeler would have reached for the end zone instead of turning his back, which forced the original touchdown call to be overturned. He talked about why he didn’t reach.

“I dove. I didn’t want to reach just because I’ve learned my lesson about reaching at the 1,” Ekeler said.

Ekeler has fumbled multiple times at the one-yard line multiple times, but it probably would’ve sealed the deal for them.

After one of the best defensive performances, defensive end Joey Bosa talked about the loss and how he’s going to bounce back from it.

“I’m going to come in and work my ass off for the rest of the season. I can’t control anybody else. I know we have a lot of guys that want to win, and we’ll see who’s with me on Monday. You can find out who wants it pretty quick after a game like that,” Bosa said.
