West Brom have 90 minutes to come back from a 2-1 deficit in the Championship play-off semi final against Aston Villa.

The Baggies face a tough task against a full strength Aston Villa side in the West Midlands derby.

The winner of this tie will face off against either Derby County or Leeds United in the biggest prize in football, the play-off final in Wembley on Monday 27th May.

The away goals rule does not apply in the play-off ties so we could potentially see extra time or penalties if West Brom win by one goal.

What happened in the first leg?

Dwight Gayle found the net early on in the game for West Brom after Glenn Whelan’s mistake lead him through on goal.

A Conor Hourihane wonder goal made things level on the 75th minute for Villa.
Kieran Gibbs conceded a penalty for the Baggies minutes later, and Villa’s top scorer Tammy Abraham buried his opportunity to give Villa the lead going into the second leg.

A late foul on Jed Steer lead to Dwight Gayle receiving a second yellow card with minutes to spare to make him suspended for the second leg.
