What channel is the 2020 EFL Trophy final between Salford and Portsmouth on?

Sixty-three teams have been whittled down to just two in the 2019-20 Leasing.com Trophy.

Portsmouth and Salford City will contest the final, due to be played on April 5, after making it through their respective semi-finals this week.

Neither side had it easy. Portsmouth were the first of the two teams to book their place at Wembley after a stunningly dramatic last-gasp victory over Exeter City at Fratton Park this past Tuesday night, February 18.

Salford themselves, in their EFL Trophy debut season, didn't have things easy. It took penalties to see their way past fellow League 2 side Newport County with new signing James Wilson securing victory in the shoot-out at Rodney Parade.

The final at Wembley will bring back good memories for Salford. In their last visit for the National League final in May, they beat Fylde 3-0.

Is the EFL Trophy Final on TV?

While there has been no official confirmation, the game is likely to be shown on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event like this past week's semi-finals.

Now TV are currently offering deals on their Day Week and Month Passes.

Customers who purchase any of their Sky Sports Passes currently qualify for either a 40% discount or free access to Sky Sports between now and the end of the season on mobile.

How did Portsmouth and Salford make it to Wembley?

Salford

Originally drawn in Group C of the Northern Section alongside Tranmere Rovers, Aston Villa U-21s and Bury, Salford recorded two 2-0 wins over Tranmere and Aston Villa U-21s to qualify top of the group. Bury were automatically expelled from the competition due to their financial issues.

In Round 2, Salford overcame Wolverhampton Wanderers' U-21 team 3-0. They followed this up with another 3-0 win - this time over Port Vale - in Round 3 and a 2-1 victory over Accrington Stanley in the Quarter-Finals.

Portsmouth

Drawn in Group B of the Southern Section, Portsmouth finished top of a group that also included Oxford United, Norwich City U-21s and Crawley Town. They defeated Crawley 1-0 at Fratton Park, Norwich City U-21 3-1 at Fratton Park and Oxford United 5-4 on penalties after drawing 2-2 in normal time at the Kassam Stadium.

In Round 2, Portsmouth came back from 1-0 down to beat Northampton Town 2-1 at Fratton Park. They defeated Scunthorpe United by the same scoreline in Round 3 with semi-final heroes John Marquis and Cameron McGeehan on the scoresheet.

What are the bookies saying?

As a League One play-off contender, it is little surprise to see that bookmakers regard Portsmouth as strong favourites.

Odds are currently ranging between 2/5 and 2/7. Salford are priced at around 5/2.
