Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will want to avoid any nasty surprises as Manchester United host neighbours Rochdale in their third round Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday night.
Paul Pogba is expected to make a welcome return to the Manchester United squad, having been sidelined since United’s 1-1 draw away at Southampton on August 31.
The World Cup winner has missed the last three games but resumed first team training at Carrington last Wednesday.
Mason Greenwood was absent from the weekend’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham with tonsillitis but is back in the frame to spearhead United’s forward line.
The 17-year-old is one of limited attacking options for Solskjaer who has both Marcus Rashford and Antony Martial ruled out through injury.
In the midfield, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong are likely starters having been selected in last week’s 1-0 home win over Astana in the Europa League. Jesse Lingard is also tipped to play.
Visitors Rochdale currently occupy 17th position in the League One Table and come into the game off a 2-1 away defeat at Fleetwood Town.
However, Wednesday night offers a distraction from the league and Brian Barry Murphy’s men will be out to cause an upset.
