Life doesn’t get any easier for Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his Red Devils side take on reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in their first local derby of the season on Saturday.
Solskjaer is still hanging on to his job in the dugout after being given extended time to prove himself, with the 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend buying him further time.
But a last-gasp draw against Atalanta in midweek has done little to ease the burden on United's manager - despite the best efforts of Cristiano Ronaldo - and he’ll be hoping to at least avoid another humiliation like his team suffered vs Liverpool a fortnight ago.
As for Pep Guardiola and City, they’ll be looking to get back to winning ways after a shock 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace last time out, but they’ll be wary of their recent record against their noisy neighbours.
City haven’t beaten United in the top flight since April 2019 and The Red Devils tend to get a result against their rivals when they need it, so luck may be on Solskjaer’s side.
