What chance of Nottingham Forest earning a spot in the Championship's play-offs?

The race for the play-offs in the Championship looks set to go all the way once again and Nottingham Forest's run-in looks relatively kind.

Looking at the average league positions of each of Forest's upcoming opponents until the final day of the campaign, the Reds' opponents sit firmly in mid-table at an average position of 13.6.

Martin O'Neill's men first play Swansea City at home and follow that up with a clash against relegation candidates Rotherham United.

They then have a few relatively tough assignments with matches against Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers and also fellow promotion-chasers Sheffield United and Middlesbrough.

They round off the campaign against struggling duo Queens Park Rangers and Bolton Wanderers.

Meanwhile, of all of the teams in the hunt for a play-off position, Derby County have statistically the easiest run-in. Currently sitting eighth in the table, the Rams' opponents occupy an average position of 15.1.

Frank Lampard's troops have upcoming clashes against strugglers Rotherham United, Bolton Wanderers and Birmingham City, whilst they also play mid-table sides Brentford, Blackburn Rovers, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City.

They only really play two sides in the promotion hunt with a clash against Bristol City and West Bromwich Albion on the final day.

Comparatively, it is Steve Bruce's Sheffield Wednesday that have the most difficult conclusion to the campaign.

The Owls have tough tasks against Aston Villa, Leeds United, Norwich City, Bristol City and Preston North End to look forward to.

They also come up against Stoke City, Martin O'Neill's Forest and Queens Park Rangers on the final day, resulting in an average league position of their opponents of 8.6.

West Bromwich Albion's average is 14.6, whilst Middlesbrough's sits just behind at 14.2.

Aston Villa's meanwhile is marginally harder at 13th. Preston have a fairly difficult run-in with their opponents taking up an average of 12th position, whilst Bristol's is even harder at 10.7.
