What Champions League or Europa League success will mean for Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs & Liverpool

The Premier League is now over for another season but Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs aren't done just yet.

With the FA Cup final between Man City and Watford taking place last weekend at Wembley, attention now turns to the European cup finals with four English teams set to contest the two showpiece finales.

Arsenal and Chelsea will go head-to-head in the Europa League final in Baku on Wednesday, May 29, with the Champions League final between Spurs and Liverpool taking place in Madrid three days later.

Chelsea and Spurs have already qualified for next season's Champions League after finishing the campaign in the top four, but Arsenal narrowly missed out by a single point in Unai Emery's first year in charge.

However, success in Azerbaijan against their London rivals next month and they will be guaranteed of a place in Europe's elite competition come September.

European success in the next few weeks will also see the teams automatically qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup in 2021, as reported by AS.

The tournament, which usually features seven teams from six confederations in December, is set to undergo a major revamp with 24 clubs set to take part at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed in March that FIFA has approved the expanded competition and it looks set to replace the Confederations Cup and take place every four years.

Europe will be represented by the winners of the Champions League and Europa League over the past four seasons, with South America having six representatives.

Africa, Asia and CONCACAF will all have three teams in the tournament and there will also be one club from Oceania taking part.

As Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have already qualified after triumphing in Europe last season, it now means that two of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs will book their place in the competition if they lift either the Champions League or Europa League over the coming weeks.

However, if they don't triumph in their respective finals then they would still have another two years to try and qualify for the tournament by winning a European cup.

If the same team has been crowned champions more than once leading up to the Club World Cup in 2021, a place will be awarded to the next team in the FIFA ranking of that particular continent.

Gremio and River Plate have also qualified having won the Copa Libertadores.
