What Celtic 'target' Liam Shaw has said about Sheffield Wednesday future amid exit talks

Celtic have reportedly "agreed personal terms" with Sheffield Wednesday rising star Liam Shaw.

Football Insider claim the Parkhead side are close to signing the 19-year-old on a pre-contract, but a deal has not been finalised as the English side attempts to extend his stay at Hillsborough.

Shaw has played 14 times for his boyhood club this season and his versatility of playing in midfield and defence has caught the eye of Neil Lennon as Celtic look to rebuild in the summer.

Shaw has improved as the campaign has gone on and if Celtic have convinced him to make the switch to the Scottish Premiership, it will be no mean feat as the youngster made it clear last month, he wanted to sign a new deal with the Owls.

He said to our sister title Yorkshire Live on New Year's Day: "It's my boyhood club. It's a dream to play for this club.

"It always is every time I go out there

"It would be perfect to stay at this club.

"We are in talks and my agent is sorting that (the contract) out. Hopefully, it will be sorted out sooner rather than later."

Of course, these comments are over a month old, but Shaw obviously has an affection for a club he has supported all of his life and it will be difficult for Celtic to prize him away from Wednesday.
