What Celtic star has said about Kieran Tierney's future amid talk of £25m Arsenal transfer

New Celtic defender Boli Bolingoli has been speaking about the future of Kieran Tierney.

The Scottish Premier League champions confirmed late on Wednesday that the defender has signed a four-year deal with the club.

And that prompted talk from Arsenal supporters that Bolingoli is a direct replacement for the Scotland international who has been linked with a summer move to the Emirates Stadium.

However, the ex-Rapid Vienna left-back insists he's in the dark over Tierney's future and said his decision to join the Hoops wasn't related to what happens with the defender.

"Whether he stays or not, it won’t change anything about the decision I took," Bolingoli said . "I know he is a great player, one of the best in Scotland.

"It’s great to have the confidence of sharing this same position with the biggest player in Scotland.

"In the end, the coach can only put 11 players onto the pitch, but the rest always have to be ready to replace the other players.

"I could learn a lot from him also and what he’s done here.

"I just can’t wait to see him. The only thing I know is he is a similar type of player to me."

It has been reported that the north London outfit have already had two bids for the Scotland international rejected but are expected to reach an agreement - in the region of £20m-£25m - before transfer deadline day next month.

Gunners legend David Seaman has even urged his former club to complete a deal for Tierney before setting their sights on the likes of Wilfried Zaha.

"Yes, Zaha is a good player who could do well for the club, and yes I know I would say as a former goalkeeper that the defence is the first place to look at in terms of signing new players - but the simple fact is that the backline needs strengthening," Seaman told football.london.

"It's no good having the best players in the world up front if you don't have a solid defence. It's no secret that Arsenal need to strengthen their defence, certainly after missing out on Champions League qualification. I think Tierney would be an ideal addition for Arsenal.

"He's young, he's talented. I think I'm right in saying he's already captained his club and country and by all accounts he's a hard worker with a great attitude.

"Being British he'd also settle in straight away and there would be no period of adjustment. I really think they should be looking to sign Tierney before setting their sights on Zaha."
