What Celtic fans are all saying about Carl Starfelt as Swede puts early season woes behind him

Carl Starfelt arrived at Celtic Park for £4.5m in the summer as the Ange Postecoglou rebuild started to take shape.

The Swede's signature was secured from European side Rubin Kazan, and there was high praise from some quarters for his arrival, but filling the centre-half slot at Parkhead can be a daunting job.

Starfelt was criticised for some early blunders, namely in Celtic' s baptism of fire against Hearts on opening day, and in qualifying for the Europa League against AZ Alkmaar.

Yet the arrival of Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan from Spurs has allowed the Swede to gel into his new role in the Scottish Premiership.

In Saturday's clash with St Johnstone, the Swede topped the billing for most accurate passes, duels won, successful tackles and interceptions.

And now one can be unconvinced by his recent performances, not least the Hoops' fanbase who have picked up on his good form.

Boyle_67 said: "Any of our supporters that moan about Starfelt heeds would fall off if they seen Harry Maguire Eighty Million pounds. I'll take ma chances way big Carl."

Celtic67.com said: "So impressed with Carl Starfelt today. Calm, assured and composed with the ball whilst being aggressive in the challenge when he needed to. A top performance from the Swede, let's hope he can build on this."

John McIngley added: "Carl Starfelt, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Josip Juranovic all looking like good signings to me."

Kieran_Sellick said: "We got told Starfelt needs time to settle like he did at Kazan and he’ll come good… boy that prophecy was true. Commanding at the back yet again, nothing was getting by him on the deck or in the air and along with Carter-Vickers, this is becoming a very strong defensive unit."

TheRyanMcGinlay added: "Give me Starfelt & CCV over every other defensive partnership in the league. The standard-bearers in Scotland."

CelticLatest insisted: "The jury has been out for Starfelt ever since Hearts away Since then he’s been one of our best and most consistent players. He’s wayyy too underrated."
