Ohio State players are no strangers to being taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. This year figures to be no different, but how many former Buckeyes will hear their name called on day one?
Draft analysts are nearly 100 percent certain that Nick Bosa will be the number one pick in the 2019 NFL. Take that for what it’s worth, but he’s a sure bet to go somewhere in the top ten.
Bosa’s older brother, Joey, has already had great success in his first few years in league, and the younger Bosa is expected to be just as lethal, if not better, with a scary combination of speed and strength on the edge.
Dwayne Haskins is another obvious first round choice from Columbus, and is projected to be the first QB off of the board. The Giants are the likely favorite to land Haskins, who has the arm strength and other tools to be a Hall of Fame Quarterback in the league.
Haskins and Bosa are cleary first round bound in this year’s draft. The other projected favorite is defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones. He has the size, speed, and character to be taken in the first round. It is highly possible that Jones ends up being drafted in the first by his favorite team, the Cleveland Browns, as they are looking to add another pass rusher in this year’s draft.
Also, after an impressive display at the NFL Combine over the weekend, which included the fastest 40 time of all the prospects in Indy, Parris Campbell can possibly be chosen in the late first round.
Campbell was well respected as a leader in Columbus, and his speed is unmatched by few at the Combine. Teams who need to add speed and great character to their roster would be wise to take a chance on him in the first round.
The NFL Draft begins with the first round on Thursday, April 25. We’ll all be watching.
