What Bristol MPs did in vote to take control of parliamentary business

MPs will take control of parliamentary business today (Wednesday) after Boris Johnson lost a crunch vote on Brexit on Tuesday night.

Twenty-one Tory rebels were among 328 MPs who voted for the motion, guaranteeing time to debate a new law to block a no-deal Brexit.

Downing Street has since confirmed that the party whip had been removed from the 21 Tory rebels.

Those sacked include Philip Hammond, David Gauke and Rory Stewart - all of whom were serving in Theresa May's Cabinet just weeks ago.

Party stalwarts Ken Clarke and Sir Nicholas Soames, Winston Churchill's grandson, were also dismissed.
