What Bristol City have said about targeting Eddie Nketiah with Arsenal striker set to be recalled from Leeds United loan

Arsenal look set to recall Eddie Nketiah in January.

The striker is currently on loan at Leeds United but has failed to start a league match so far this season, making just 10 Championship appearances off the bench.

Nketiah turned down a move to Bristol City in the summer, instead favouring going on loan to Leeds, but the Robins have long been rumoured to still hold an interest in the 20-year-old.

With Nketiah's future now up in the air, it could well prompt the Robins to make another move for the highly-rated striker.

When asked about Nketiah in September, Robins boss Lee Johnson did not rule out renewing their interest in the player should he become available again, but said he would also wait and see how young players such as Antoine Semenyo and Saikou Janneh are developing.

He said: "For me, it's about concentrating on the players that we've got and we've got a lot of bright, young talent coming through: Semenyo and Saikou Janneh.

"At the moment he's an Arsenal player who's currently on loan to Leeds and I presume that'll be the way it stays.

"If that situation changes, then of course we'll look at it with a viewpoint in the market as it stands, but also depending how our young boys are developing and whether we can promote anybody from within."
