What Bristol City are saying on Chelsea's Kasey Palmer and the two £20m deals keeping Swansea City's chase in the balance

Chelsea's Kasey Palmer is a wanted man this summer, with Swansea City and Bristol City set to go head to head for his services.

The 22-year-old's versatile skill set makes him an attractive prospect, with both sides hoping they hold an advantage over the other.

Palmer spent the second half of last season on loan with the Robins, but maybe didn't get enough game-time as he would have liked.

Swansea will look at Steve Cooper's working relationship with the midfielder from the England set-up as a positive.

Liberty chiefs are currently mulling over Sheffield United's improved £20million offer for star man Oli McBurnie, with a deal seeming more likely as the days tick down.

Swansea on a loan move for Palmer, but with their coffers possibly swelled by the sale of McBurnie, a permanent transfer isn't out of the question.

The Robins are believed to have already agreed personal terms with Palmer, and CEO Mark Ashton has not entirely ruled a move out.

He told a BBC Bristol Sports Forum: "Kasey is one of the players that we like, as do a number of other football clubs. I think it is proven we have got a really good relationship with Chelsea with the business we have done this year and in previous years.

"Kasey is one that is on our radar but so are a number of players."

The Robins are about to complete a high-value transfer of their own, with centre-back Adam Webster close to a £20million move to Brighton.

That fee will significantly boost their own transfer funds, meaning the race to sign Palmer is well and truly on.
