What brilliant Wales fans did for Danny Ward after mistake against Czech Republic as Rob Page thanks Red Wall

Rob Page thanked the Red Wall for the reception they gave Danny Ward following his own goal in Wales' 2-2 draw with Czech Republic.

The goalkeeper made a mess of Aaron Ramsey's back pass five minutes into the second half which led to the hosts going 2-1 up in Prague.

However, Wales recovered as Daniel James struck in the 68th minute to earn his side a point after Ramsey's first-half opener had been cancelled out by Jakub Pesek.

After the match at Sinobo Stadium, Wales fans chanted Ward's name and applauded the 28-year-old and his team-mates off the pitch.

And Page praised the travelling supporters for their touching gesture towards Ward after what proved to be a frustrating result to take.

"Danny's been excellent since he's been involved. That happens unfortunately. We know him as a person, he's strong minded, and he'll come back from that, no problems at all," said the head coach.

"Of course you're going to be disappointed, but he's fine. He'll bounce back.

"I thought it was a really nice touch from the supporters at the end. The lads are rallying around him, and knowing him as a character, he'll bounce back."

Wales created numerous chances in the Czech capital, with Kieffer Moore twice going close while Ramsey and Harry Wilson were among those to have efforts on goal.

The draw leaves both sides locked on eight points in Group E of World Cup qualifying, although Page's troops have a game in hand over Jaroslav Šilhavý's outfit.

"The performance I thought was excellent. We've created enough chances to win two games. We did it against Estonia," admitted Page.

"We're disappointed that we didn't get the win. I thought we thoroughly controlled the game and create some good chances.

"From that point of view, I'm disappointed not to get the three points, but I'm really pleased with the performance, but we couldn't have thrown any more at it."

Wales return to action against Estonia in Tallinn on Monday night.

They round off the qualification phase with back-to-back home matches against Belarus and Belgium in November.
