What Brendan Rodgers said after Celtic drew Rangers in Premier Sports Cup semi

Brendan Rodgers admits he is looking forward to Celtic's Premier Sports Cup semi-final date with destiny against Rangers.

The Glasgow sides will face each other on the weekend of November 1/2 after being pulled out of the hat together for the last four in this evening's draw.

It came after Rodgers' sized breezed into the semis with a 4-0 victory over Championship side Partick Thistle at Firhill this afternoon.

Goals came from Yang, Liam Scales, Sebastian Tounekti and Luke McCowan.

Rodgers spoke to Premier Sports immediately after the draw was made and was remaining on an even keel with his reaction.

He said: "It was either going to be them or Motherwell or someone else.

"You've got to go out and beat good teams to get to the final, so we'll look forward to that when it comes."

Looking back on today's action, the Northern Irishman was pleased with how his men acquitted themselves on what he felt was a difficult surface.

He said: "I think you can see that we're building our performance level and football and fluidity. The pitch was really slow and long.

"They tell me it's a bowling green here. Obviously, there's a good growth. So yeah, that was very long. But I thought the players they still tried to play and and some of our more kind of attacking play was very, very good.

"We talked about the variety in the game and and going into depth. I think it's something that we turn down sometimes. Especially against teams that are maybe not pressing onto us, but there's space there. So playing with the depth is really important. And but I thought the variety in our play between getting it wide, going central, going in behind was very, very good."

Celtic fans staged another protest towards the club's board this afternoon, with board members Dermot Desmond, Peter Lawwell, Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay all targeted.

Rodgers hopes continuing to perform like today and getting victories will help generate a more positive feeling around the place.

"I think the narrative in terms of the team is that we're we're building and we're working well," he insisted. "The transfer window is shut, we now know what we have for these for these coming months. So, the team's progressing well if you look at domestically. It's been really good and performance-wise I know it'll improve.

"I can't tell the supporters what to think, what to say, what to sing, what not. But all we can do is as a football club is look to progress and keep looking forward and keep learning. I think learning from different situations that arise each season and like I say, my concentration's really on the the football side."
