What Ben Davies has said about Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs exit and the moment he found out

Ben Davies has stated that it has been "amazing" to work with Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs.

The Argentine's time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium came to an end on Tuesday evening following a lot of speculation about his future in recent weeks.

Guiding the team to the Champions League final at the start of June, the Lilywhites just unfortunately haven't kicked on and they are currently 11 points off the top four after 12 games.

It has left the club with an uphill battle over the next 26 league fixtures and Daniel Levy obviously felt that a change was needed in the hotseat.

With the news breaking just after 7.30pm, Davies didn't actually find out until a few hours later after playing for Wales in their final Euro 2020 qualifier against Hungary.

Mauricio Pochettino sacked as manager of Spurs

Helping his country to next year's European Championship with a 2-0 win, the 26-year-old, who was one of the manager's first signings at White Hart Lane, opened up to the press after the game about Pochettino's dismissal.

"I didn’t know until after the (Wales) game," the left-back told the Press Association. "I was very shocked.

"But I’d like to put on record, it’s been amazing to work with him for the last five years & I’m sure he will go onto bigger and better things."

Jose Mourinho is the new Tottenham Hotspur manager after going almost a year without a job following his Manchester United dismissal.
