What Ayoze Perez told Newcastle fan when asked if he would stay

Ayoze Perez told a Newcastle United fan he doesn't know 'what's going to happen' when asked if he would still be at the club next season.

The Spaniard is on course to finish as the Magpies' top scorer this season with 12 goals after an impressive end to the campaign and has attracted interest from clubs on the continent.

Perez has never disguised his ambition to one day play in La Liga but Rafa Benitez is confident his compatriot is not angling for a move , and believes it is 'normal people will talk about him'.

In April, ChronicleLive revealed that Perez sees Newcastle as a 'sleeping giant' and hopes the club can fulfil its immense potential as he enters the final two years of his contract.

The 25-year-old is happy at St James' Park and that was evident in a short documentary MirameTV put together ahead of the black-and-whites' game against Liverpool last week.

In the 15-minute programme, Perez declares that Newcastle is a 'wonderful' place to live and beams as he shows off his trophy room, which includes three goal of the season awards for the club.

Perez is also shown stopping his car at the gates of Darsley Park to sign autographs for supporters before driving to training - and is asked about his future.

"Good luck next season. Do you think you will stay or back to Spain?" the fan asked.

"Let's' see. I don't know what's going to happen," Perez replied.
