What Arteta shouted at Martinelli and Smith Rowe message - 5 things spotted in Arsenal training

Arsenal are preparing to return to Premier League action ahead of their date with Everton on Friday night.

The Gunners welcome a Toffees side scrapping to stay in the race for European football to the Emirates Stadium having all-but fallen out of the race themselves.

The best hope Mikel Arteta's men have of securing European football for next season is winning the Europa League, and they have a semi-final first leg with Villarreal on Thursday to keep in mind.

But Arteta has warned there will be no resting players against Everton, particularly with Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kieran Tierney and David Luiz all out injured.

Ahead of the game, the Gunners have been putting in the hard yards at London Colney, and we have picked out three things we noticed from their latest session.

Odegaard's presence

Odegaard remains a doubt for the Everton clash as he continues to battle injury, and there seems to have been some progress.

Arsenal had said the Norwegian would be 'assessed' ahead of this one, but while he didn't feature in the club's training video, he was pictured taking part later in the session.

He is back running and could be in contention to face Everton on Friday night.

Martinelli's pose

Gabriel Martinelli has featured heavily since the start of this month, something that has delighted Arsenal fans, and the minutes on the pitch seem to have put a spring in his step.

The winger, who scored in the win over Sheffield United a couple of weeks back, was all smiles in the latest session and even struck a pose for the cameraman.

Arsenal fans will be delighted to see him getting minutes on the pitch and feeling confident and happy for it.

Arteta's message to Martinelli

He may have been all smiles, but it wasn't quite a perfect session from young Martinell.

Mikel Arteta took one opportunity to remind the winger to get moving ahead of getting the ball.

He shouted: "Gabi, movement before receiving the ball!".

One to keep in mind for the youngster.

Smith Rowe just gets it

Emile Smith Rowe just gets it, doesn't he?

During a warm-up in the session, Smith Rowe spotted the camera, looked straight down the lens and patted the Arsenal badge on his chest.

That could be a message from the creative midfielder about all that has gone on in the last week in regards to the European Super League.

Smith Rowe is a Gunner at heart and he wants the fans to know it.

Partey's dig

During a keep-the-ball-up drill ahead of training, Mohamed Elneny got some stick for watching the ball fly slightly over his head.

His teammate Thomas Partey clearly felt he could have reached the ball and he made sure to give him some friendly stick for it.
