What Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has done on Instagram after injury announcement

Thomas Partey has given Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta an almighty injury scare ahead of next weekend's Premier League clash against Leeds United.

The 27-year-old, who was signed for £45m from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window, came off against Aston Villa with a thigh problem at half-time, with the Gunners trailing by one goal.

Without Partey in midfield, Arsenal went on to lose 3-0 with Ollie Watkins haunting the club he supports with a second-half brace at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Arteta delivered an update on Partey.

"We don't know [the extent] of it," the Gunners manager said. "We have to scan him tomorrow or the day after and see what he felt straight away.

"Let's wait and see what the magnitude of the injury is.

"I don't know [if he will go away with Ghana now]. As I said, the doctor will have to have a look at him and probably scan him.

"Then we will decide what to do with him."

As announced by the Ghana FA the injury was serious enough to rule Partey out of Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations qualification double-header against Sudan.

However, the injury didn't stop the midfielder from cheering on his international teammates from home as he recovers.

Taking to social media, he uploaded two images to his Instagram stories.

The first of which was to hype up Thursday's game ahead of kick-off and the other was to applaud Andre Ayew for scoring both goals in a 2-0 win for Ghana.

Victory for Ghana has left them on the bring of sealing qualification for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations competition that won't actually take place until January 2022.

This is because of the coronavirus pandemic which caused the tournament to be pushed back from its original start date of January 2021.

Partey will be hoping to represent his country when the time comes and Arsenal fans will be hoping that his injury doesn't keep him out of action for too long.
