What Armin Gigovic has said about his future amid Arsenal transfer links

Armin Gigovic has hit out at 'false rumours' linking him with a summer switch to Arsenal.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move away from boyhood club Helsingborg this summer, with the Gunners said to be interested.

Wolves and Genoa have also been linked with the Sweden under-19 star, who has started the last 13 of his side's fixtures in the Allsvenskan.

Yet Gigovic has shot down rumours that a move away from Sweden is imminent.

Speaking to Buon Calcio a Tutti, Gigovic said his future was a matter for clubs and agents to sort out rather than himself.

He said: "It seems that someone is spreading false rumours.

"I, myself, was shocked.

"The question is between the clubs, agents and so on; nothing I need to focus on.

"Yesterday wasn’t my last game for Helsingborg, absolutely not. There are still other games to play."

Yet there could still be hope for the Gunners if they do wish to seal a deal.

Speaking last week, Helsingborg director Joel Sandborg admitted the club may have to sell their coveted asset due to the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on their finances.

He said: "Everyone understands that when we say that we cannot manage the finances ourselves and need outside help, the sale of ‘Gigo’ is definitely something that can help us."

Vincent Kompany's Anderlecht are said to have recently had a £1.7million bid rejected for Gigovic, whilst Manchester City have also been credited with an interest.
