Given the sheer exhaustive quantity of titles available to watch on Netflix, a helping hand with what to watch is a welcome innovation. One would assume, with the size and capabilities of the platform growing by the week, that any recommendation algorithm would be a slick, reliable tool.
But this week has shown that might not be so true. According to The Mirror, two teenagers were looking for a film to watch in the vein of gross-out teen comedy The Inbetweeners Movie. Netflix’s suggestion? Harrowing holocaust drama The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
It’s not the first random drunken thought that Netflix has had. Because you watched The Walking Dead, you’ll love Katy Perry: Part of Me? Since you enjoyed Dexter, what about Dexter’s Laboratory? Or since you’re a Digimon Adventure fan then how come you haven’t seen Zack and Miri Make a Porno?
Let us know the oddest Netflix recommendation you’ve been offered in the comments.
