It's end of year list time again... so what were your top five favourite TV shows of 2006?
Organ Grinder will compile a list from your favourite TV show entries, awarding points (5 for your first pick, down to 1 for your 5th), and publish it in the new year. Or we may just do a QI-type thing, and award random points for the funniest/quirkiest entries.
My top five, for what it's worth: 1. Battlestar Galactica 2. Doctor Who 3. My Name Is Earl 4. Entourage 5. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Other stuff I liked, in no particular order: Snuff Box, Life on Mars, Lost, Torchwood, House, Grey's Anatomy, World Cup Goals Galore (for Sean Lock's voiceover), DBC Pierre's The Last Aztec, Oz & James' Big Wine Adventure, Griff Rhys Jones' John Betjeman documentary, That Mitchell and Webb Look.
When we did this last year, posters rightly pointed out that an increasing volume of viewing of TV shows now happens via DVD and online download. But to qualify for this favourites list, a show must have been broadcast on a TV channel in the UK for the first time this year.
Last year several posters also commented on what a good year it had been for TV and how hard it was to choose a top five favourites. Does it feel the same for 2006?
Here's the 2005 top 20, as voted for by Organ Grinder users: 1. Doctor Who, BBC1 2. Lost, Channel 4/E4 3. Extras, BBC2 4. Bleak House, BBC1 5. Spooks, BBC1 6. The West Wing, More4 7.
