In addition to the counter-Reformation conspiracy theory that emerged in conference earlier today there was some discussion of fashion. Sunday papers are all about style now, doncha know. In particular, the question arose of what the establishment gal about town should wear to a memorial service.
There is the classic British function(al) pillbox, medium brim, white for a wedding, black for a funeral, pastel of your choice for Ascot. A bit dull we thought.
The combined editorial eye of the Observer was much more taken with the trilby-cum-pork pie effort sported by one illustrious mourner. But the classiest outfit by far was the Mediterranean widow look.
