A woman on TikTok has come under fire after she complained about children at an expensive hotel. In a tearful video the woman recounted her experience with rowdy kids who invaded the hot tub she was trying to relax in. While we’ve likely all been there with annoying kids, many on the platform took issue with the woman complaining about it, especially because the hotel was evidently kid-friendly.
Most people have had bad hotel experiences before but not everyone agrees that the hotel was in the wrong here. The original clip, posted by a woman named Jessica, features the tearful woman in her hotel room explaining that she and her boyfriend had booked a trip out of town for a concert. Jessica decided she wouldn’t go to the concert but instead convinced her boyfriend to book a hotel with a pool so she could stay and relax while he went to the show.

Her plan quickly went sideways as she realized there were lots of kids also making use of the hotel pool. While she wasn’t too put off by the children at first as she remained in the hot tub, they soon began invading that space too and soon enough Jessica felt her relaxing evening become something much more chaotic.
TikTok are less than sympathetic
While Jessica did complain to hotel staff about the issue they weren’t able to offer much in the way of help. They did offer to upgrade her room but she didn’t want that. Jessica did admit that it was “a first world problem,” but couldn’t help but feel like her plans for a nice relaxed time were ruined.
The people of TikTok did not share her feelings about the whole thing. Plenty of comments asked what exactly Jessica wanted the hotel staff to do about the situation, another asked her “what are we crying about?” The majority definitely thought the woman’s emotional reaction was a little over the top and that, in reality, it wasn’t that deep at all.
Another TikToker by the name of Andra responded to the video, calling out Jessica, “you’re making me agree with corporate America,” Andra stated in her vid. She accused Jessica of trying to weaponize social media and her feelings to get something out of the hotel, “I don’t think the customer is actually always right I think they’re just someone with too much unregulated access to social media.”
But maybe the people of TikTok are being a little too harsh on Jessica. A few commenters did sympathize with her with one person writing, “kids shouldn’t be in the hot tub. You’re not wrong they have a whole pool to play in.” Jessica also avoided naming the hotel so it’s not like she’s using social media to pressure the business to compensate her for her bad experience.
In the end maybe Jessica shouldn’t have posted this online expecting sympathy, but she’s not entirely in the wrong either.
