The Scottish Parliament election 2021 results

Voters in Scotland have now cast their ballots in the Scottish Parliament elections.

A total of 129 MSPs make up the Scottish Parliament, which is based in Edinburgh and is also known as Holyrood.

MSPs have been elected in the following constituencies: Aberdeen Central; Aberdeen Donside; Aberdeenshire East; Airdrie & Shotts; Angus North & Mearns; Argyll & Bute; Ayr; Banffshire & Buchan Coast; Caithness, Sutherland & Ross; Clydebank & Milngavie; Coatbridge & Chryston; Cowdenbeath; Cunninghame North; Cunninghame South; Dumbarton; Dundee City West; East Lothian; Eastwood; Edinburgh Central; Edinburgh Southern; Edinburgh Western; Ettrick.

MSPs have also been elected for Roxburgh & Berwickshire; Falkirk East; Glasgow Anniesland; Glasgow Maryhill & Springburn; Glasgow Pollok; Glasgow Southside; Greenock & Inverclyde; Hamilton, Larkhall & Stonehouse; Inverness & Nairn; Kilmarnock & Irvine Valley; Kirkcaldy; Linlithgow; Midlothian North & Musselburgh; Moray; Motherwell & Wishaw; Na h-Eileanan an Iar; North East Fife; Orkney Islands; Paisley; Perthshire North; Renfrewshire North & West; Rutherglen; Shetland Islands; Stirling; Strathkelvin & Bearsden; Aberdeen South & North Kincardine; Aberdeenshire West; Almond Valley; Angus South; Carrick, Cumnock & Doon Valley; Clackmannanshire & Dunblane; Clydesdale; Cumbernauld & Kilsyth; Dumfriesshire; Dundee City East; Dunfermline; East Kilbride; Edinburgh Eastern; Edinburgh Northern & Leith; Edinburgh Pentlands.

And MSPs have also been elected for Falkirk West; Galloway & West Dumfries; Glasgow Cathcart; Glasgow Kelvin; Glasgow Provan; Glasgow Shettleston; Mid Fife & Glenrothes; Midlothian South, Tweeddale & Lauderdale; Perthshire South & Kinrossshire; Renfrewshire South; Skye, Lochaber & Badenoch; and Uddingston & Bellshill.

Elections were last held in May 2016 when Nicola Sturgeon and the Scottish National Party won a plurality.

This year, some voters had to battle snowy conditions to get to their polling station as wintry weather hit parts of the north.

Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 6, but unlike in previous years counts are not being held overnight.

The first results from a number of polls are expected from around noon on Friday. The remaining votes will be counted on Saturday.
