What are the next moves for the Packers now that Aaron Rodgers is coming back?

Wisconsin’s long, statewide nightmare is apparently over.

Aaron Rodgers will reportedly sign a massive, four-year contract extension that will make him the NFL’s highest-paid player and keep him with the Green Bay Packers into his early 40s.

While the exact terms of the deal aren’t yet known, its purpose goes beyond just keeping a reigning back-to-back regular season MVP behind center. The Packers came into 2022 well over the league’s $208.2 million salary cap. Rodgers’ extension will reduce the $46.6 million cap hit he was scheduled to make next season, instead shifting that money to future budgets and creating the space needed to re-sign some vital pending free agents.

First among them? Davante Adams. Here’s what’s next on general manager Brian Gutekunst’s plate now that he’s successfully completed his most important task for the 2022 offseason.
