The Oasis reunion tour is starting to make waves across the UK, kicking off with its first night in Cardiff.
The tour is set to come to London as part of its 17-night run across the UK and Ireland, with backstage drama already kicking off.
While the tour will surely make headlines with the antics of the Gallagher brothers and make Brit rock fans’ dreams come true with a reunion of one of the most popular bands in the country’s musical history, it’s also having its impact in an unexpected area: pet names.
New data from Pets at Home in the brand’s annual National Dog Survey reveals that, since the announcement of the Oasis reunion tour, there’s been a notable increase in pets named after the Gallagher duo.
Sourced from eight million members of the brand’s Pets Club, the numbers show a 20 per cent rise in pets named Liam and a 16 per cent increase in those named Noel since the tour was announced in August last year.
That gives Liam the edge in pet influencing clout, but there’s also been a 10 per cent increase in pet combos named Liam and Noel, with people wanting to pay tribute to the brothers – despite their storied past.
Millennials are the most common culprit – which is no surprise being the band’s lead demographic – but they’re closely followed by Gen X.
If you’re tempted to pay homage to the brothers via your pets, you could go the whole hog and complete their look with their very own Oasis-inspired Bucket Hat from Pets at Home, starting from just £4.
